ΓÇöQuickStartΓÇö
To install SetSoundVolume with the pre-configured preferences (you can change them later), simply drag the SetSoundVolume icon into the Control Panels folder, which lies in the System Folder, and restart your computer.
All information for changing preferences is included with the control panel. Simply open the SetSoundVolume control panel, and hit the About/Help button.
ΓÇöQuick ConfigureΓÇö
There are eight check box buttons in the control panel. To change which keys activate changing the sound volume, check/uncheck the Command, Control, Option, and Shift Keys. If the Use Pop-Up Menu check box is checked, then your combination of keys (whatever modifier key buttons are checked, i.e. Command, Control, Option, Shift) and a mouse click will pop up a menu showing the current sound volume, and allowing you to change the sound volume. Also, SetSoundVolume comes comes pre-set with Function Keys F1-F8 to set the sound volume.
If the Use Pop-Up Menu is not checked, then your combination of keys in addition to the number of the sound volume you want to set will change the sound volume. Sound confusing? For example:
If your modifier keys are Control and Shift, then:
Control-Shift-0: Sets the sound volume to 0 (off).
Control-Shift-1: Sets the sound volume to 1.
......
Control-Shift-7: Sets the sound volume to 7 (max).
There are 8 different levels, 0-7.
If Use Function Keys... is checked, then:
F1: Sets the sound level to 1.
F3: Sets the sound level to 3.
...
except for F8, which will set the sound volume to 0.
The Beep when volume set... check box button will switch between whether or not SetSoundVolume will ΓÇ£give youΓÇ¥ the beep of the sound level that you just set.
If your modifier(s) are/is Control, and the Beep when volume set... is checked,
then after hitting Control-1 (or F1), you will hear a beep of that level.
If it isn't checked, then you won't hear any beep at all, but the sound volume will still be changed.
About this document reader:
This doc was created with NanoNotes, an excellent stand-alone document creator that I use (and have paid for). Please download the original from America On-Line, and pay your shareware fee! Thanks:)
(The author had only gotten, when I bought it, three shareware fees, although this doc-creator is good enough to deserve hundreds!)
That's it for the Quick Instructions guide. Please remember to pay your shareware fee!
This software is a ΓÇ£branched-offΓÇ¥ version of Voldeps' sound volume changer (also by me; shareware, $10), but SetSoundVolume includes several extra features.
Voldeps (formerly Volume/Depth Switcher, and should be available Feb. 4) includes:
-A 1-2K, very simple screensaver.
-A sound level changer.
-A monitor depth switcher.
-A disk ejector which leaves no gray icon/ghost.
-Quick Application opening with FKeys F9-F12.
You can download Volume/Depth Switcher from America On-Line now, or after Feb. 4, Voldeps, which will include many more functions.
